Stewardship/Almsgiving

A message from Fr. Marciano

St. Kevin Parish is blessed in so many ways.  This can be seen in the many wonderful ministries, programs and events that take place here on any given day.  We are also blessed to have a vibrant school that opened its doors 55 years ago, producing the next generation of Catholics.  All of this is possible because of you giving so willingly of your time, talent and treasure.  We are living the gospel each day when we feed the hungry, welcome strangers, comfort those who mourn and share our stories of faith.  Yes, we are truly blessed by God!

One of the greatest challenges we face as a parish is dealing with rising costs.  Even though our weekly offering is good, it is not keeping up with the pace of steadily increasing operating expenses, building maintenance and repairs, utilities, liability and medical insurance and payroll.  As you know, since becoming pastor we have trimmed our staff without decreasing the services we provide so that we could operate in the black for the first time in many years.

The Finance Council, at the invitation of the bishop, has decided to participate in the Increased Giving Campaign to increase the weekly offertory collection.  We are certain that some of you are doing your best to give sacrificially and gratefully to the parish.  However, it seems very important at this time to seek everyone’s participation in the Stewardship Appeal Program to increase our weekly offertory collection.  It is a perfect time to reflect on what we give and why we give and to make an adjustment accordingly.

How can you help?

First, a modest increase in your weekly donation will help us meet our expenses and build a solid financial foundation for the future.

Second, consistency in your weekly support through regular use of the the parish envelopes or through enrollment in the online Parish Giving program will help us project and maintain a regular income flow.

We are certainly aware that some families are giving all that they can possibly afford each week.  If you decide that you are unable to increase your weekly contribution at this time, please pray for the success of this campaign.  And, please know this: that it is my pleasure to serve as your pastor and that my prayers and thanks go to each and every one of you for your faithfulness and support of the parish we love.

Sincerely and gratefully,

Rev. Robert L. Marciano, KHS
