Schedule for July and August

Did you know?

In the early Church the symbol of the acolyte (altar server) was an empty cruet.  It represented the acolyte’s role in presenting the gifts of the congregation to the priest celebrating the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass.

Altar Server’s Prayer

Father in heaven, your son Jesus showed his love for you by serving his needy brothers and sisters.
I now ask for your help as I serve you and your people.

Open my mouth to praise you in word and song.
Open my ears to hear your Word.
Open my hands to do your work well.

Take from my heart all evil and distracting thoughts.
Help me to now what I should do and do it well.
Help me to serve you reverently at your holy altar,
and so to give you praise and glory now and Forever.

Send your Holy Spirit to guide me and let me be a worthy acolyte to the priest who will represent Jesus in the Mass at which I am about to serve.

Amen.

Hello,
My name is Aidan Lawrence, and I am the new Sacristan of St. Kevin Church.  I have been an altar server for the past 7 years,  and I am very excited for this opportunity.
Many thanks go out to Brendan for his years of service towards our ministry.
Below is the Altar Server Schedule for August and September. I hope you all have an excellent end to your summer and a strong start to the new school year.|

I would like to review a few standard procedures for servers:

  • You should arrive 15-20 minutes prior to the beginning of Mass.
  • Sneakers are not allowed on the altar. Please wear black dress shoes.
  • Please show respect for the Mass. Talking and excessive, distracting movements are not allowed.

Thank you for your dedicated service and participation in this important parish ministry.
God bless,
Aidan
