St. Kevin School Garden is dedicated
On Friday, May 27, 2016 at 1 p.m. we blessed and dedicated the school garden located on the far side of the parking lot. The garden was named in honor in of our belated parishioner and good friend, Rene Charpentier, whose family donated the money to construct this garden. It is a great educational tool and place where our children are learning first-hand about the great gift of nature that God has blessed us with.
Mrs. Mary Ann McKenney’s grade 2 class worked hard choosing and preparing plants for the garden. This project included a lesson from Dr. Paul McKenney on preparing soil, fertilizing, nurturing, and harvesting the plants. Then, students visited Morris Farms where they learned about growing different kinds of plants. At the end of the field-trip, students chose which plants they wanted in the garden. They chose both vegetables and flowers; the flowers will be placed in honor of Our Blessed Mother in classrooms with Marian shrines.
All parishioners are welcome to visit the garden and join with our school community in thanksgiving and appreciation for God’s wonderful gift of nature.
